Barthélemy is one of the most illustrious winemakers in the family. He bequeathed his notebooks to us, in which he questioned the use of sulphur in the vinification process.

This is the only vintage which is not named after one of our ancestors. Yet we are all aware of our patriarch Jean Pierre’s love of sailing.

Blaise-Albert was the mayor of Saint-Cibard, the village next to our home, and he gave his name to the ultimate le Puy experience.

Emilien’s mother, Rose-Marie, oversaw the daily management of the family, which lived a practically self-sufficient life off the land at that time.

Marie-Cécile, Barthélemy’s wife, was renowned for her culinary skills. When the men left to fight in the 1870 war, she proved to be an excellent winemaker.

Barthélemy’s daughter-in-law was remarkably beautiful, gentle and kind. She helped her neighbors and was much sought-after for her wise advice.
